YA Librarian in Pittsford needed

The Pittsford Community Library will be hiring a part-time young adult librarian. This position develops the collection of materials, plans and conducts programs for teens and serves the public on the reference desk.

Specific duties include:
1. Select and purchase young adult materials in all formats
2. Plan, promote and implement programs for teens
3. Provide reference service and reader’s advisory to teens and adults
4. Develop and implement a strategy for using social media
5. Work in partnership with local schools
6. Plan and produce displays and exhibits in the Teen Place
7. Assist with adult programs when needed

Desired qualifications include:
1. Ability to establish a rapport with teens and ‘tweens
2. Demonstrated interest in providing services to this age group
3. Ability to interact well with people of all ages
4. Forward thinking and innovative
5. Proficient in using laptops and projectors
6. Expertise using various social media

The work schedule is 20 hours a week including an evening and weekend rotations. Pay rate is $19.00 per hour. A NYS Public Librarian’s Professional Certificate is required.
